Dave Taylor's Facebook Posts-Timeline of Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County History

I began a Facebook Group devoted to the history of Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County including the University of Michigan. A web page was created in 2016 that has grown to 1,819 pages with 3,700 pictures as of October 31, 2024: http://davetgc.com/Ann_Arbor_Tragedies.html The web page is updated monthly. Please encourage other Ann Arborites, Ann Arbor Townies and Washtenaw County Historians to join the Facebook group, reminisce about their past activities living in the Ann Arbor area, and improve the Timeline factoids. This Facebook Group began May 3, 2017; there has been at least 36,662 photos put up with thousands of posts over the past 11 years, 2013-2024.

In order to help celebrate the Ann Arbor Bicentennial in 2024, I have embarked on a new series to honor the Great Historians of Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County and the University of Michigan over the past 200 years. Each Historian will be honored daily with pictures, if available, and a biography plus whatever features on the Historian that I'm able to find. My current list of 909 Historians was originally posted May, 2023, and updated recently.

I retired in 2010 after serving as an educator, 1987-2010, and wrote my first book in 2013 after spending 20 months researching, 2011-2013. I am a member of the Washtenaw County Historical Society, and am hoping to prepare a book by 2024 for the Bicentennial. The Ann Arbor District Library began their "Old News" in 2012 from previous issues of the Ann Arbor News, 1835-2009. I grew up in Ann Arbor, attended K-12 at Pittsfield, Burns Park, Pattengill, Tappan, and Ann Arbor (Huron) High School, 1957-1970; then, graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1978, 1990, 1993, and 1995. Hope you enjoy the pictures, information, and history in my web pages and Facebook posts; almost all pics come from the AADL-Ann Arbor District Library, Bentley Library, Michiganensian, Ann Arbor High School Omega Yearbooks, and Wystan Stevens Flickr sites which are all fabulous resources.
