MIDWEST TALENT SEARCH

The Midwest Talent Search (MTS) is located at Northwestern University and is available for students in Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Over 26,000 students from 1800 schools benefit from participation. It is open to all 7th and 8th grade students who have scored at the 95th percentile or higher on a nationally-normed, standardized achievement test (California Achievement Test, Iowa Test of Basic Skills, Stanford Achievement Test, Metropolitan Achievement Test, etc.); 6th grade students who score at the 97th percentile may also be considered. For schools who don't use standardized tests, parent nomination forms are available. Since 1981, the Center for Talent Development has provided enrichment opportunities for over 361,000 students, and along with 3 other university centers, tests over 150,000 students annually.

Students pay a $59 fee for the ACT and $71 for the SAT I test to sit for the test given on March 12, 2005 (SAT I) or April 9, 2005 (ACT); register in October online at http://www.actstudent.org/regist/elecreg.html or http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/reg.html.

The Midwest Talent Search for Young Students (MTSY) allows 4th, 5th and 6th grade students to participate if they meet the same criteria above to take the EXPLORE exam on February 26, 2005; register by October online for $52 fee.
